Hey there, time traveller!

There weren’t many surprises when the seedings for the Safeway Championship were announced on Friday.
For the third straight year, Brandon’s Rob Fowler will be the third seed going into the provincial men’s curling championship, which will run from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2 at the MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg, while defending champion Jeff Stoughton is the top seed and former Brandonite Mike McEwen is No.2.
Fowler believes the top-five rankings are bang on and he’s very comfortable with being the third seed going into his first game Wednesday against Gladstone’s Geoff Trimble.
“It’s a place we’re familiar with and I think it’s a fair representation of where we should be,” said Fowler, who curls with Allan Lyburn, Brendan Taylor and Derek Samagalski. “We’re happy with that.”
Winnipeg’s Sean Grassie, who lost last year’s final, is the fourth seed, while former Brandonite William Lyburn rounds out the top five.
Two other teams with Westman connections cracked the top 10. Brandonite Scott Ramsay, who skips a team out of the Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg, is the sixth seed, while Brandon’s Steve Irwin is the ninth.
Carberry’s William Kuran, Neepawa’s Kelly Robertson, Virden’s Graham Freeman, Dauphin’s Greg Todoruk and Minnedosa’s Glenn Parrott will also play in provincials.
