Brandon native Chris Bauman is without a Canadian Football League club again.

The 6-foot-4 receiver was released by the Calgary Stampeders on Thursday after a frustrating 2013 campaign. The 29-year-old former first-overall draft pick didn’t play a down after suffering a broken wrist in training camp and then tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee late in the season. Bauman, a Vincent Massey Vikings graduate, played in eight games for Calgary in 2012 and had 16 catches for 212 yards and a touchdown.

In his seven CFL seasons, which included stops in Hamilton, Edmonton and Calgary, Bauman had 141 receptions for 1,855 yards and seven touchdowns.
