Alex Plante is headed to South Korea.
The Brandon defenceman, who played last season with his brother Tyler in Lørenskog, Norway, has signed a two-year deal with Anyang Halla of the Asia League Ice Hockey.
The nine-team league has franchises in South Korea, Japan, China and Russia. Brandon’s Mark Derlago played in Anyang for the 2012-13 season.
Plante, a former Edmonton Oilers draft choice who played in the Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen, had six goals and nine assists in 43 games last season while leading the Norwegian league with 189 penalty minutes.
Tyler Plante signed with the Sheffield Steelers in the United Kingdom last weekend.
