• 30 YEARS AGO — Rodger Zelmer notched a hat trick as the Boissevain Border Kings dumped the Melita Bisons 7-4 in South West Hockey League play. Brad White, Kevin Bartley, Keith Forsyth and Ken Pringle also scored for the Border Kings.
•20 YEARS AGO — Cory Unser’s first goal of the season couldn’t have come at a better time for the injury-plagued Brandon Wheat Kings. The 18-year-old rookie defenceman, who moved up to forward to help fill out three lines, notched his first WHL goal to help the Wheat Kings post a 4-2 triumph over the Medicine Hat Tigers.
