Defenceman Halli Krzyzaniak of Neepawa was the fourth overall pick at the Canadian Women’s Hockey League draft in Toronto on Sunday.
The former Hockey Canada played was selected by the Calgary Inferno. Defenceman Lauren Williams was the first overall pick when she was selected by the Worcester Blades.
In the CWHL draft, the first couple of rounds are “pre-signing” rounds that were announced prior to the event beginning. Players paid $150 to select the region where they wanted to play.
In total, 65 women were chosen.
The CWHL, which has six teams located in Canada, the U.S. and China, competes with the National Women’s Hockey League for players.
