Portage la Prairie has landed the national junior A hockey championship for the second time in five years as the event celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2020.

The 1,675-seat Stride Place will play host to the RBC Cup from May 9-17, 2020. The hometown Terriers won it in 2015 with Brandon’s Tanner Jago, Virden’s Landon Peel and Elkhorn’s Shawn and Brad Bowles and Brett Orr in the lineup.

It will be the sixth time the event has been played in Manitoba, with it previously being held in Brandon (1973), Portage la Prairie (2015), Dauphin (2010), Flin Flon (2001) and Winnipeg (1973 and 1992). The Terriers have won two of Manitoba’s three championships, earning the title in 1973 and 2015. The Selkirk Steelers won it in 1974.

The schedule and ticket information will be announced later.
