Brandon Wheat Kings prospects Cole Plowman, Brett Hyland, Owen Weihs and Tyler Teasdale are world ball hockey champions.
The foursome were part of the Team Canada West squad that earned under-16 gold on Sunday at the World Junior Ball Hockey Championships held in Prerov and Zlin, Czech Republic with an 8-6 victory over Team Canada East.
Team West went unbeaten in the event, outscoring their opponents 30-10.
Plowman, who is from north of Winnipeg and whose father Mark is from Brandon, had the best goals-against average in the tournament and was named to the all-star team, while Portland Winter Hawks prospect Dawson Pasternak of Winnipeg was named MVP and won the scoring title. Seattle Thunderbirds prospect Conner Roulette of Winnipeg was named top forward and Calgary Hitmen prospect Rory Neill of Winnipeg was the top defenceman.
Everett Silvertips prospect Nate Goodbrandson of St. Andrews also played on the team, which was coached by Paul Kastes of Winnipeg.
Weihs, a forward, and Teasdale, a defenceman, are both from Winnipeg, while the forward Hyland is from Edmonton.
