Carberry’s Carson Bjarnason will represent his country at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

The Brandon Wheat Kings netminder was named to Canada’s roster for the under-18 tournament, which will be held in Red Deer, Alta., from July 31 to Aug. 6.

The 17-year-old is coming off of his rookie season in the Western Hockey League, where he recorded an 8-10-1-0 record with a 4.00 goals against average and an .882 save percentage.

Bjarnason is the only Manitoba product on the roster and one of 12 WHL players to make the team.

He’s joined by goaltenders Scott Ratzlaff (Seattle Thunderbirds) and Jackson Unger (Moose Jaw Warriors), defencemen Tanner Molendyk (Saskatoon Blades), Caden Price (Kelowna Rockets) and Saige Weinstein (Spokane Chiefs), and forwards Zach Benson (Winnipeg Ice), Andrew Cristall (Kelowna), Riley Heidt (Prince George Cougars), Tanner Howe (Regina Pats), Kalan Lind (Red Deer Rebels) and Brayden Yager (Moose Jaw Warriors)
