The announcement was made by Outdoor Writers of Canada at their national award ceremony held earlier this year in Saskatoon.

This beautifully illustrated book makes interesting reading for people from all walks of life, from serious outdoor enthusiasts to the armchair naturalist, and it is filled with beautiful colour photographs from across the province.

"Manitoba Wild" emphasizes country drives that take people to spots where they might not normally travel. These are places of exceptional scenery with spectacular wildlife and nature viewing opportunities.

According to information provided by William Street Publishing: "Dazzling displays of wildflowers adorning native prairie and cascading waterfalls along our wild rivers are only two examples of Manitoba’s unbeatable natural beauty and ‘wild’ places to explore."

Many of Manitoba’s most noteworthy and interesting natural treasures are not well-known or well-promoted. The secret to exploring our wild landscape is knowing where to go and how to get there. "Manitoba Wild" takes readers on scenic drives to places of unmatched natural beauty with spectacular wildlife and nature-viewing opportunities.

"Manitoba Wild" is written by the author of two previous bestsellers, "Manitoba, Naturally" and "Scenic Secrets of Manitoba." In this new book, Stilwell shares his vast first-hand experience and knowledge of Manitoba. With the help of this book you are invited to explore and enjoy Manitoba’s best kept scenic secrets and wild places.

The Outdoor Writers of Canada book award was last given out in 2009. This award is presented by the OWC, a national organization of professional writers, authors, broadcasters, photographers and videographers who specialize in outdoors activities and issues. The awards are designed to encourage excellence in outdoors writing.
