Hello Reena,

Some time ago someone wrote to you to share a way to get rid of warts. As with many people, I wanted to save the article but that didn’t happen and I cannot remember what the remedy was. Thanks, Diane

Hi Diane,

I don’t normally give medical advice because, that would just be wrong. But I can share with you the tip that I received from Garry. “Here is an easy way to get rid of warts. I tried the duct tape trick and several medical remedies but nothing worked for me. I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and applied Krazy Glue over my warts. The glue works in the same way as duct tape but stays on better. The warts vanished because they need air and the glue seals them off. Allow glue to dry and reapply if needed.”

Hi Reena,

A friend of mine just came back from lunch at a restaurant and found an oil and balsamic vinegar stain on her orange leather Michael Kors purse. Any idea on how to remove the stain without removing the gorgeous orange colour? Thanks, Margaret

Dear Margaret,

If you can get a hold of one of the following, you will have a great chance of removing that mark. Onto the stain sprinkle either: cornstarch, baby powder or baking soda until all of the grease is absorbed. Dawn dish soap is also effective, but test on an inconspicuous area first.

Hi Reena,

Just before we stored our motor home for the winter, we discovered that my husband accidentally left a pack of ground beef in the fridge, so I used baking soda and bleach to try and get rid of the smell. Just recently we went to see if the smell is gone, but it is still there. Is there another solution to get rid of the smell? Lorna

Dear Lorna,

Empty the fridge and clean the entire box with a liberal amount of vinegar, baking soda, tea tree oil and water. Dry and then, stuff the fridge with crumpled up newspaper. Leave for a week. The ink in newspapers is an absolutely wonderful solution for zapping odours!

Dear Reena,

I bought a bunch of hot dog and hamburger buns on sale last week. If I store them in the fridge, will they go bad fast? Sincerely, Zink

Dear Zink,

If you are not planning to use the buns before the best before date, your best bet is to freeze them in their original bags. When ready to use; you can either thaw them for a few seconds in the microwave or on the counter. Use frozen bread within two months, and if you plan to freeze them longer than that, put them into freezer bags before putting them inside of your freezer.

Hot Car Tips

• To avoid crashing into your garage wall while parking your car, lay a railroad tie as far as you want your car to drive. Carefully drive your car inside the garage until the front wheels touch the wood.

• If you find that as a passenger you tend to have cold feet in your vehicle. Place your feet inside a large brown paper bag while travelling. Pull the bag as high as it will go onto your legs, you will be amazed at the added warmth.

• Store extra towels inside your vehicle to throw over the seats and steering wheel to keep hands and legs from burning when getting into a hot car.
