The Town of Neepawa will be as bright as Rudolph’s nose on Saturday, as they welcome Santa to the Parade of Lights.

Jeff Braun, president of the Neepawa and District Chamber of Commerce, said he is excited for this year’s parade, which begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Yellowhead Centre. The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the parade.

“The whole things is to get people out into the community,” Braun said. “Stay warm, bring lots of hot chocolate and coffee.”

With help from more than 20 volunteers, the parade is ready to roll, with Braun expecting it to last between 30 to 40 minutes.

Featuring Santa at the end of the parade, Christmas season will officially come to town.

“I love to see the kids faces as Santa comes around,” Braun said.

The parade starts at the Yellowhead Centre, turns onto Davidson St., then Brown Ave. before crossing onto Hamilton St. and ending at Budz & Bloom.

A special Christmas movie matinee will be held at the Roxy Theatre, with which movie they select remaining a surprise. Santa will be on hand with treat bags.

The Christmas matinee has become a staple in the community, Braun said, serving as a fun way for kids and their parents to ring in the holiday season.

Prior to the Parade of Lights, ArtsForward will be hosting the Glorious Christmas Wish Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features artisans from across Manitoba.

The events of the day offer an incredible chance to support the community, Braun said, bringing in tourists and drawing attention to local businesses.

The Parade of Lights is just one of many ways the Chamber of Commerce works to encourage local business to thrive in the community, he added.

With the parade typically including more than 30 floats, Braun said, it is a fun event for the whole family, while also helping to promote local business.

“The more local business that we have that prosper the better the community.”
