Hey there, time traveller!

A new manager has been hired for the Minnedosa Campground and will be responsible for the park in the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Manager Jason Hume was hired in December after a unanimous vote from the Town of Minnedosa council. Hume takes responsibility for park maintenance, reservations, staff, and record keeping.
Hume was unable to be reached by multiple phone calls, however his wife Diane told the Sun the couple had been camping at the park for a few years. Jason applied for the role this year because he felt he could improve the area, said Diane.

“That was something he just decided,” she said. “He just wanted to be there and get things right … Jason really wanted to do something about it.”
Diane said in her opinion the park had room for improvement and she supported her husband in trying to get the role.
The campground manager is tasked to maintain the space at the campground, beach facilities, cottage area washroom facilities and Tanner’s Park washroom. The Florence Bold Memorial Spray Park was added to that list of areas this year.
The role generally includes mowing grass, raking sand at beaches, removing litter, emptying garbage, repairing picnic tables, organizing reservations, cleaning bathrooms, filling potholes, clearing fire-pits, enforcing rules and providing office support.
In an email to the Sun, Minnedosa CAO Danniele Carriere outlined what the town was looking for in its applicants.
“The committee had been seeking an individual who understood the campground and surrounding area while understanding the maintenance and groundskeeping needs of the campground and beach areas and how they would fulfill and meet the expectations of the town,” Carriere wrote. “In addition, knowledge of the reservation software and basic bookkeeping (was requested).”
The park has about 169 campground sites and 12 bathrooms, according to the request for proposals from Minnedosa. Hume will be required to hire at least two staff to help get the work done.
The mandate of the job, as it was posted by the town, reads: “To provide a clean, enjoyable and safe visit and stay for all campers and visitors alike. To promote the town as a community to visit and promote the varied recreational opportunities and many other services available.”
Carriere, Coun. Mark Blais, and Minnedosa operations manager Brian Jensen conducted interviews with four applicants. Afterwards, staff at Minnedosa provided a recommendation that Hume be hired, and that was supported by a unanimous vote in council on Dec. 10.
The work agreement is a two-year term, ending Dec. 31, 2026.
The Minnedosa Campground is also set to be redeveloped. The project was approved by council in 2024, and aims to improve the area and spray park.
“First, there will be updates to services throughout the campground,” said Carriere, “and additional enhancements to the Florence Bold Memorial Spray Park.”
