The Secord Corn Maze has dropped the puck on a new fall season.
The maze, north of Dauphin, opened on Sept. 2, co-owner Shelley Secord told the Sun. Built into the maze this year are activities and puzzles themed around hockey, she said.
Secord said clues to a hockey themed crossword puzzle have been placed in the maze for players to find.

“We also cut into the maze, the word ‘hockey,’ and we cut the outline of the Stanley Cup, which was an interesting task,” Secord said.
Huts in the maze have a variety of games for different ages. There is a hockey themed logic puzzle, for example, and stickhandling games.
Players can expect to spend about an hour in the maze if they want to complete all the tasks, Secord said.
The hockey theme was picked because the sport has been a big part of life for Secord and her family, she said, and there are plenty of local hockey fans.
It is the eighth season that Secord and her husband run the corn maze. Previous years’ themes included nature, sound, and a celebreation of the local fire department.
Activities at the maze also include mini golf, bonfires, photo booths, petting animals, escape games and a “ladybug trail” corn maze where young kids search for painted bugs.
Admission is $6 for children aged two to three, and $12 for people aged four to 94, Secord said. Babies are free.

Secord said to check the website, secordcornmaze.com, for a full list of activities and updates. Bookings are also available through the website, she said. The maze organizes all its visitors through bookings, to prevent crowding, she said.
The maze is about five kilometres north of Dauphin, and travel instructions come with bookings online or by phonecall, Secord said.
