Democrat Randy Villegas won election Wednesday to the U.S. House of Representatives representing California's 22nd Congressional District, defeating Republican incumbent David Valadao. Villegas is a progressive who was endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders. He overcame concerns among some Democrats that he would be seen as too liberal for the district in California’s Central Valley.
