The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery (RCA Museum) at CFB Shilo — has five indoor galleries in a 25,000 sq.-ft. air-conditioned building. Also on display, outside the building in our “Gun Park” are 28 guns and vehicles with interpretive panels. The Gun Park is open seven-days-a-week. Dress for the weather, there is a lot to see. Did you know that Souris Railway Museum has a diesel locomotive simulator that was used to train locomotive engineers? Appointments are available until June 30, 2016 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. Daly House Museum – Original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly, which was built in 1882 and is the only period museum in western Manitoba. On exhibit: “Ceramics Settling the Prairies” until Jan. 31. There is a seat for you and your friends around the Daly’s historic kitchen table on Saturday afternoons. The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum – Winter hours are 1 p.m.-4 p.m., seven days a week. The museum is Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of the history of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Check out the RCAF Second World War Memorial, a black granite wall about 300 feet in length containing the names of more than 19,000 fatalities, with a larger-than-life bronze statue representing the fallen.
