LONDON, Ont. – The London Knights have a cosy lead atop the Ontario Hockey League’s Midwest Division.

On Monday night, in the lone game on the OHL schedule, the Knights scored four times before their contest with the Flint Firebirds was 12-minutes-old and then rolled to a comfortable 9-5 victory at Budweiser Gardens.

Sean McGurn paced the Knights’ attack with three goals and three assists, while Ruslan Gazizov had a goal and six assists.

Oliver Bonk, Jacob Julien, Landon Sim, George Diaco and Jackson Edward also scored for the Knights (33-13-1-0), who led 4-1 after the first period and 6-2 after two. Diaco also chipped in with three assists.

With the victory, the Knights now lead the Owen Sound Attack by 12 points in the Midwest.

Amadeus Lombardi had a goal and two assists for the Firebirds (23-23-3-1), who outshot the Knights 46-40.

Gavin Hayes, Dmitry Kuzmin, Tristan Bertucci and Simon Slavicek also scored for the Firebirds.

POKE CHECKS: It will be a battle of the dogs Tuesday night in the OHL. The Hamilton Bulldogs (22-21-4-0) travel to Niagara to face the IceDogs (9-30-6-1) in the lone game on the schedule.
