BRANDON UNIVERSITY

• Lashawnda Hildebrandt, the education and administrative co-ordinator of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, will talk about the history of the Brandon Indian Residential School on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m., in the Gathering Space of the John E. Robbins Library. She will be joined by two residential school survivors from Sioux Valley Dakota Nation as well as Katherine Nichols and Brent Perrin, who discuss the efforts to find unmarked graves of children buried on the school grounds. Please be aware that these presentations will touch on topics that may stir up strong emotions.

• Carolyn Gray will reveal how she has made it as a writer and playwright in Manitoba in a free talk on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. The talk, which will take place in Room 206 of Clark Hall, is open to everyone.

• WET INK, BU’s New Music Ensemble, will perform on Tuesday at 8 p.m., in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. There is no admission charge.

• Christopher Malcolm and Daniela Paz Campama Gonzelez will talk about visitor perception of bear management at Riding Mountain National Park as part of the BU at the Public Library Speaker Series on Wednesday. The talk will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Program Room of the Downtown Brandon Public Library. Parking and the event are free, and there will be food catered by a downtown eatery and door prizes. All are welcome.

• Anastasia Jane will perform a lunchtime concert to mark the Trans Day of Visibility on Friday at noon in the Mingling Area of the Knowles-Douglas Students’ Union Centre. All are welcome to this free event, presented by BUQueer and the LGBTTQ* Collective.

• The Evans Theatre will show “Broker” this weekend, with shows at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sang-hyeon and Dong-soo steal a baby with the intent to sell him, while detectives track them down. Admission is $6.

• Do you know of BU alumni who have done great things since graduation? Someone who has helped their community? Gone above and beyond in their career? We want to hear about them! Nominations are open until Saturday for the Alumni Awards. More information is available at BrandonU.ca/Alumni/Awards.

• The Brandon University Orchestra will perform a concert at St. Matthew’s Cathedral on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $10, or $5 for ages 13 to 18, and free for BU students, Conservatory of Music students and children under 12.

• The BU Concert Choir and the BU Chorale will perform at Knox United Church on April 3 at 7:30 p.m., General admission is $12, while children are $5 for ages 13 to 18, and free for 12-and-under. There is also no admission fee for Conservatory of Music students.

• Applications are open for the ACCSA Awards. There are five awards available to apply for. Please find out more at the SA office, or visit accstudents.com. The annual ACCSA awards gala is taking place on April 14. Come celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Students’ Association, as well as be a part of celebrating our student awards and staff awards. This year’s Awards Gala will take place at Eagle’s Nest Bar & Grill. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with reception starting at 6:30 p.m. Contact the ACC Students Association for ticket information.
