BRANDON UNIVERSITY

• Brandon University students are studying hard for winter term exams, which begin today. Exams will run until April 22, with the spring term beginning on May 1.

• Students will be sharing their research in a pair of events over the next two days. The Senior Colloquium, for third- and fourth-year undergraduate students, will take place today, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Louis Riel Room. The 21 topics have been split into seven different sessions, beginning at 9, 10 and 11 a.m., as well as 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. On Thursday, second-year students in the Master of Science (Environmental and Life Sciences) program will share their ongoing research. The talks, in chemistry, biology, geography and environment, will take place from 1:30 to 3:40 p.m., in Room 3-47 of the Brodie building. The MELS talks will also be available online. • The Healthy Living Centre will host this year’s Western Manitoba Science Fair on Tuesday. The public is invited to view the projects from 2 to 4 p.m.

• BU will recognize many of its long-term employees on Wednesday at 2 p.m., in Harvest Hall. This year, employees who reached five-year milestones of 10 years or more during 2020, 2021 and 2022 will be celebrated.

• The BU Alumni Association is hosting “Whose Alumni is it Anyway?” on Friday at Chez Angela Bakery and Café. Drama program graduates will lead a night of improv, with doors opening at 4 p.m. and the show starting at 5 p.m.

• The Evans Theatre will show “Coco Ferme” this weekend. Newly moved to the countryside, a budding young entrepreneur joins with his cousin and their friend to start a business producing fresh eggs laid by “happy hens.” Showtime is at 7:30 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, and admission is $6.

• One of Germany’s most successful vocal groups will come to Brandon for a pro series performance on April 18. Calmus has won several international prizes and competitions, including the OPUS Klassik 2019 for Best Choral Recording. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall.

ASSINIBOINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

• The International Wine & Food Festival takes place April 20 at our historic Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts. Our students will prepare an evening to remember with 40 fabulous wines along with food pairings from around the world. There are still a few tickets available by calling 204-725-8738.

• Register now for our 2023 Cougars Classic golf tournament! The eighth annual tournament is presented by RFNow and will be held June 22 at the Shilo Country Club. With plenty of prizes to be won, themed auctions and raffles valued at more than $15,000, this event is sure to be one to remember. Registration information can be found at assiniboine.net/events.

• Calling all Aggies! To help celebrate more than 45 years of Ag at Assiniboine, the college’s Alumni Association is collecting profiles on alumni from the Russ Edwards School of Agriculture and Environment. • The ACCSA, in partnership with several Paw Pass fitness partners, will be holding fitness classes in the ACC gym. These fitness classes will run through April 27. Find out more at accstudents.com.

• The ACCSA Awards Gala is coming up and there’s so much to celebrate. Student awards, staff awards, and of course, the 40th anniversary of the ACC Students’ Association. The Annual ACCSA Awards Gala is taking place on Friday. Come celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Students’ Association, as well as be a part of celebrating our student awards and staff awards. This year’s Awards Gala will take place at Eagle’s Nest Bar & Grill. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with reception starting at 6:30 p.m. Contact the ACC Students Association for ticket information.
