BRANDON UNIVERSITY

• The winter term has concluded at Brandon University, with the focus turning to the spring term, which begins on May 1. For those students who have earned the credits to graduate, BU’s Convocation ceremonies will take place on June 1 and June 2 at the Healthy Living Centre.

• A BU Teachings House gathering will take place today from 1:40 to 3 p.m., in He Oyate Tawapi Ceremony Room of the Health Studies building. Cree Knowledge Keeper Susie McPherson-Derendy and Kris Desjarlais of the Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples’ Council will speak on the topic of Two-Eyed Seeing, bringing together different ways of knowing. All are welcome to attend.

• Mostafa Torabi of BU’s Department of Business Administration will talk about social media monitoring and how it can help businesses approve customer satisfaction in the BU at the Public Library Speaker Series on Wednesday. The talk will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the Program Room of the Downtown Brandon Public Library. Parking is free and the evening will include catering by a downtown eatery and door prizes.

• The Evans Theatre will show “Ever Deadly” this weekend. The film features concert footage, with stunning sequences filmed on location in Nunavut, seamlessly bridging landscapes, stories and songs with pain, anger and triumph — all through the expressions of musical performer Tanya Tagaq. Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and admission is $6.

• The Suzuki Talent Education Program will present a fun-filled afternoon of solo recitals with two concerts on Saturday. The concerts begin at 1 and 3 p.m. in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. Both concerts are free, and all are welcome.

• Register now for our 2023 Cougars Classic golf tournament! The eighth annual tournament is presented by RFNow and will be held June 22 at the Shilo Country Club. With plenty of prizes to be won, themed auctions, and raffles valued at more than $15,000, this event is sure to be one to remember. • Calling all Aggies! To help celebrate more than 45 years of Ag at Assiniboine, the college’s Alumni Association is collecting profiles on alumni from the Russ Edwards School of Agriculture and Environment.
