BRANDON UNIVERSITY

• This is convocation week at Brandon University, with 559 students set to graduate. The week will begin with a BU Teachings House talk today by Will Mousseau, who made the new eagle staff for the convocation ceremonies. The talk will be 1:30 to 3 p.m. in He Oyate Tawapi (Ceremony Room) and will also be available online. More information on the event is available at BrandonU.ca/Indigenous/Gatherings. Indigenous university, college and high school graduates will be honoured at the Our Journey celebration on Wednesday at the Riverbank Discovery Centre, with grand entries at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Convocation will be Thursday and Friday at the Healthy Living Centre. There will be four ceremonies, with science and music graduates receiving their degrees on Thursday at 10 a.m., followed by education in the 2 p.m. event. On Friday, health studies will be up first, at 10 a.m., followed by arts at 2 p.m. All are welcome, and the ceremonies will also be livestreamed at BrandonU.ca/Convocation.

• Dr. Mohamed Ebeid will talk about the short-term effect of retirement on health today from 10:40 to 11:45 a.m., in Room 410 of Clark Hall.

• Asian Heritage Month will conclude with a film screening of “Turning Red,” at the Evans Theatre on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Alison Marshall, who was a cultural contributor to the film, will be a special guest. Admission is free and snacks will be available for purchase.

• The BU at the Public Library Public Speaker Series returns on Wednesday, with Candy Jones and Jan Marie Graham talking about rural homelessness in Manitoba. The presentation will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the Program Room of the downtown branch of the library. The presentation will be catered by a downtown eatery, with door prizes up for grabs.

• BUQueer has organized a road trip to Winnipeg Pride on Sunday. A bus will leave at 7:30 a.m., returning home at 7:30 p.m. To book a seat on the bus, email BrownN@BrandonU.ca.
