BRANDON UNIVERSITY
• The Brandon University campus is buzzing again as students return for the fall term. Orientation takes place with events throughout the day today. The first day of classes for most students will be on Wednesday.
• BU CARES presents NourishED Talks: Igniting Conversations on Education on Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. NourishED Talks is a brown-bag lunch program that welcomes students, faculty, staff and community members to enjoy their lunch while indulging in thought-provoking conversations. This week’s talk will be on integrating artificial intelligence into education. Visit Events.BrandonU.ca to register.
• The Bobcat soccer teams open their season on Saturday by hosting St. Boniface at the Healthy Living Centre. The women’s match starts at 1 p.m., with the men following at 3:15 p.m.
• Homecoming is coming up quickly, with a new earlier date this year. Homecoming will take place from Sept. 14 through Sept. 17, with events for everyone, including the annual Homecoming concert, beer gardens, trivia, the Decades Social featuring music from a different decade every hour, Games Day, Bobcats soccer, the Terry Fox Run and the popular Homecoming Soirée. Another new event this year is the JRC Evans Public Lecture, featuring agrologist expert and business leader Robert Saik. His talk, “Food 5.0: How We Feed the Future,” will look at challenges in sustainably increasing agricultural production to feed population growth. The talk will take place on Sept. 16 in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. The talk is free, but seating is limited. Homecoming is open to everyone, even if you didn’t study at BU, and a full list of events can be found at BrandonU.ca/Homecoming.
