11 a.m. — The Women’s Resource Centre is hosting its fourth annual barbecue fundraiser at Stanley Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. $5 for a hotdog, chips and a drink or $10 pay-it-forward option — purchase your lunch plus a lunch for a community member in need. Cash only.

6 p.m. — Prairie Mountain Health’s Health Promotion unit, the Brandon Public Library, Crow’s General Store and Healthy Together Now invite you to enjoy a Story Walk this July, featuring the children’s book “Dear Street,” by Lindsay Zier-Vogel after 6 p.m. at Crow’s General Store (33 17th St. East) now through July 31. This is a fun, family-friendly activity that places the pages of a picture book along an outdoor walking path. Follow the story one page at a time. Families, individuals of all ages are welcome to take part in this come-and-go experience which is approximately 0.25 km long with some small hills and directional signage.

6:30 p.m. — City of Brandon Parks and Recreation presents Kates Outlaw with Brad Johnson & The Talent at the Fusion Credit Union Stage at the Riverbank Discovery Centre. As members of the Manitoba Country Music Association, Manitoba Music and Indigenous Music Manitoba, Kates Outlaw is a four-piece country/rock band. Show starts at 6:30 p.m. Free admission.

7 p.m. — Entertainment begins again this summer every Thursday on the Jubilee Stage at Victoria Park (Seventh Avenue and Seymour Street West) in Virden. Featured today: Straight Up Country. In case of rain, the event will be moved to The Legion Hall at 540 Eighth Ave. South.

6:30 a.m. — Strathclair Agricultural Society Fair. Pancake breakfast at 6:30 a.m.; horse and cattle shows, parade, horticultural show, decorated bike competition, children’s activities, entertainment in the arena with Julianna Moore, Manitoba Gymkhana Rodeo Association.

6:30 p.m. — The City of Brandon Parks and Recreation Services hosts Music in the Park in Princess Park on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and good vibes and enjoy an incredible lineup of local talent all summer long. No admission fee. Tonight features REIMAGINED and Aviyon.

6:30 p.m. — The Brandon Riverbank Discovery Centre’s Speaker’s Series welcomes Peter Sawatzky to do a walk and talk at 6:30 p.m. to tour the placed bronze pieces on the Riverbank grounds. Join this presentation and learn about Peter’s process and life as a Manitoba artist. Please bring a food item donation for Samaritan House or donations toward Brandon Riverbank. Larger donations toward the Peter Sawatzky endowment fund will be accepted at this time as well.

WEDNESDAY

6:30 a.m. — Shoal Lake Agricultural Society Fair. Pancake breakfast at 6:30 a.m., horse show, parade, cattle and horse judging, children’s activities, petting zoo, farmer’s market, Manitoba Gymkhana Rodeo Association. Admission is $6 for adults; youth $2; 6 and under are free.

Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. (July and August). Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first since 1907. The AGSM boasts two exhibition spaces, an art school and gift shop that supports more than 70 local Manitoba artists. Coming to the Main Gallery is “Through my window, there is a view,” with artist Opeyemi Olukotun. In the Kayes Community Gallery is “Attached” with Carberry-based artist Clemente Villamayor (aka Tengnamoe) showing until Saturday. Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.; closed Sunday and Monday. There is no admission fee to visit the galleries. Brandon General Museum and Archives (19 Ninth St., Unit 101) — Attractions include the Brandon History Hall, Manitoba Telephone History, the BJ Hales Natural History Collection and rotating exhibits celebrating Brandon’s roots. Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) (Brandon Municipal Airport, Highway 10, 1.6 kilometres north of Brandon) — Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Summer hours for the museum are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our gallery has new interpretive displays explaining the CATP. Visitors will be invited to travel back to the 1940s while touring a Second World War-vintage hangar serving as a display for aircraft, vehicles and hundreds of artifacts from that era. RCAF members who lost their lives during the Second World War are honoured on the museum’s RCAF Second World War Memorial Wall. Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118 Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — We opened our new temporary exhibit, marking the 110th anniversary of the start of the First World War. The main features of the exhibit include a trench wall, First World War artillery and two machine-gun pits. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Wasagaming Community Arts (110 Wasagaming Dr.) — We are pleased to announce the opening of our second exhibition of the 2025 season. Exhibition 2 runs until July 23 and features the works of Aryn Robidoux, Anne-Marie Syslak, Louise Renee, Elaine Rawlings and Sara Bulloch. Tribute Exhibition Opening takes place on Saturday with a wine and cheese reception at 7 p.m. honouring our beloved founders and families.

Killarney’s Heritage Home for the Arts (44 Water Ave., Killarney) — Killarney Turtle Mountain Arts Council’s gallery is in the Heritage Home for the Arts. July 18-20 — Dakota Oyate Wacipi takes place at the Pow Wow Grounds at Sioux Valley Dakota Nation over the weekend with competitions in several different categories as well drum competitions and grand entries. Public is welcome to attend. Free admission.

July 18-20 — Salamander Summer Music Festival at Rideau Park. Headlining the festival are The Haleys, Siloas Presley Band and Route 10 Collective with more than 15 other bands. Food trucks and vendors on site. Tickets available at salamanderfest.ca.

July 18-20 — Wawanesa Pound Pail Paddle kicks off on Friday night with magician Anders Boulanger and a family dance. Social at the hall featuring live music by 8 Track Shuffle, boat Calcutta. Saturday has the Fire Fighter Breakfast at the Rec Centre at 8 a.m., boat building, town-wide parade, boat races, beer gardens and local talent show case.

July 19-20 — Minnedosa Agricultural Society’s 140th Fair and Exhibition takes place over the weekend with entertainment for everyone.

July 24-27 — Manitoba Threshermen’s Reunion and Stampede takes place at the Manitoba Agricultural Museum near Austin. Experience more than 100 acres of pioneer village demonstrations, steam engine and horse wagon rides, antique farming activities and classic car displays. Every evening features Manitoba’s best semi-pro rodeo and live musical entertainment.

July 25-26 — Waywayseecappo First Nation Gas Bar presents Downtown Avenue and special guest JJ Voss in concert at their beer gardens.

July 26 — Summer Multicultural Celebration at the Riverbank Discovery Centre beginning at 10 a.m.
