TODAY
• Day — The Skating Oval is open at 2020 McGregor Ave. The display of lights is immediately east of the Parks Complex at 2020 McGregor Ave. (also accessible via Hilton Avenue). The lights are on from 5 to 11 p.m. Warming shacks are operational from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. No public vehicles are allowed in the direct area of the Waterfall of Lights display. Visitors are encouraged to park in the designated areas along McGregor Avenue or Hilton Avenue and enjoy the walk through this magical winter scene.
• 9 a.m. — The North Hub Outdoor Rink (at Sportsplex, 30 Knowlton Dr., north parking lot) is open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Parking available in the south parking lot only. Washrooms are available through the west entrance of the Sportsplex and portable toilets will be available. This rink is not supervised — please skate respectfully and don’t forget your helmet.
• 1:30 p.m. — Taoist Tai Chi meets every Thursday afternoon at Trinity United Church (1515 Sixth St.) until 3 p.m.
• 6 and 9 p.m. — Brandon University School of Music is proud to present the Brandon University Jazz Festival. Join us for three days of music and learning. The Brandon University Big Band, under the direction of Diogo Peixoto, will perform at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium, with guests Shirantha Beddage, Queen Cora Coleman, Joanna Majoko and Dean McNeill at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Then at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall at 8:30 p.m. it is Erin Propp and BU jazz faculty members Luis Deniz, Marika Galea, Carter Graham and Eric Platz. • 9 a.m. — The Brandon Farmers’ Market takes place every Friday at The Town Centre (800 Rosser Ave.) with seasonal produce, baking, jams and jellies, pickling, crafts and more until 4 p.m. This market runs year-round.

• 9 a.m. — Hanbury Hill in Sir Winston Churchill Park (600 Braecrest Dr.) is open and ready for sledders. You can warm up in the gazebo, which is open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. The lights are on daily from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Other toboggan hills within the city include Rideau Park, Wheat City Golf Course/Recreation Centre. Smaller hills at 34th Street and Cherry Crescent sliding hill and Parkdale Park sliding hill.
• 9:30 a.m. — Asessippi Ski Resort (Provincial Trunk Highway 83, Inglis) is open. Plan your runs, tubing laps, chalet time and everything in between. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for tubing (times can change so check the website), tickets, updates and more at asessippi.com. Special late night skiing tonight until 10 p.m.

• Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia. Daly House in partnership with the Brandon Embroiderers presents “The Art of Embroidery: Past and Present,” an exhibit featuring more than 100 embroidery pieces dating from the 1800s to the present. Exhibit is on display until May 20. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Admission: $7 adults; $6 seniors and youth (6-18); family (up to two adults and three children), $13; children under five, free. • Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first since 1907. The AGSM boasts two exhibition spaces, an art school and gift shop that supports more than 70 local Manitoba artists. In the Main Gallery is “The Performance of Being,” a retrospective of work by Canadian artist Leesa Streifler on until April 4. In the Kayes Family Community Gallery is “The Boy in the Forest,” a storybook collaboration project, on until March 22. • Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) (Brandon Municipal Airport, Highway 10, 1.6 kilometres north of Brandon) — Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. • Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118 Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — Discover “WWII Command Posts,” a temporary exhibit at the RCA Museum, showcasing Canada’s mobile command vehicles and their role in co-ordinating artillery and communications during the Second World War. • March 21 — Get Hypnotized — The Jesse Lewis Hypnosis Show/Comedy Hypnosis takes place at the Elkhorn Resort Spa and Conference Centre (3 Mooswa Dr. East in Onanole) at 7 p.m. Jesse Lewis delivers high-energy, audience-driven hypnosis shows that get people laughing without ever crossing the line. • March 21 — A Ukrainian Easter Sale with perogie luncheon takes place at the Ukrainian Reading Hall (1005 Assiniboine Ave.) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Raffle table. Cabbage roll, perogies, borscht, paska and baba (Easter bread), Ukrainian sausage and baking. Show up early as supplies are limited. Proceeds going to church upkeep and Ukrainian relief.
• March 22 — Mecca On Broadway 2026 takes place at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium at 3 p.m. Celebrate the best of Broadway brought to life by students of Mecca Productions. Tickets are available at the WMCA box office or by calling 204-728-9510.
• March 22 — Brandon Festival of the Arts Encore concert featuring the top performances of the festival takes place at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall at 4 p.m. Presentation of the G.R. Rowe Scholarship.
• March 26 — The 2026 Battle of the Badges: The Tie-Breaker Match takes place in Shilo. In 2024, CFB Shilo was victorious and Terry Parlow, the City of Brandon Chief of Emergency Services lost a bet to Lt.-Col. David Cronk, and had to wash a LAV. In 2025, CFB Shilo lost to Brandon Fire and Emergency Services and Cronk had to wear a Brandon jersey at work all day. Now in 2026 an epic one-night showdown to determine who is the premier hockey club in Westman takes place at the Shilo Gunner Arena with puck drop at 7:15 p.m. Skills competition between the second and third period. The public can also enjoy an open skate time ahead of the game at 5:30 p.m. and meet some of the players. Free for all to attend.
• March 26-29 — Galaxy Psychic and Crystal Fair in the banquet hall at the Victoria Inn (3550 Victoria Ave.) from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. $10 entry fee with ticket good for the weekend. Ages 12 and under free. Some of Canada’s top psychics, vendors, door prizes, beautiful crystals and handmade jewelry.
• March 28 — Brandon University Orchestra in concert at Knox United Church at 7:30 p.m. Adults $15; ages 13-18 $5; children under 12 no charge. BU students and Conservatory of Music students, no charge.
• March 30 – April 4 — Royal Manitoba Winter Fair at the Keystone Centre. Held annually during Manitoba’s spring break, the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair is a celebration of agriculture, entertainment, and community spirit and is proudly recognized as one of Western Canada’s largest and most prestigious agricultural events.

• March 31 — Explorers Club Camp resented by City of Brandon Parks and Recreation takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Oval Room at the Sportsplex (30 Knowlton Ave.) Campers will spend the day solving a mystery, which will lead them on a great adventure around Brandon.
