The Brandon General Museum and ArchivesOn the ground floor of the old Manitoba Telephone building at 19 Ninth St. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. On display is a travelling exhibition called “The Life and Legacy of General Arthur Currie.” His brigade played a pivotal role during the Second Battle of Ypres in April 1915. He then commanded the Canadian Corps from June 1917 until its disbandment in late 1919. He is commemorated in Brandon by Currie Boulevard. Also see the B.J. Hales collection of Manitoba wildlife. The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum, Hours are 1 p.m.-4 p.m, seven days a week. The museum is Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of the history of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Check out our RCAF Memorial Wall display in the museum’s hangar. The first granite panel of 54 is on display, along with a scale model of the completed memorial which will feature more than 19,000 fatalities with a larger-than-life bronze statue representing the fallen.
