• 8:30 a.m. — “Walking Through Westman: Uncovering our Past” in the Gathering Space at John E. Robbins Library at Brandon University until 10 p.m. Curated by public history students, the exhibition reveals some of the interesting, unusual and important events, people and places that pepper the past in Brandon and Westman. The skating oval is free. Oval is unsupervised, so use at your own risk. No sticks or pucks allowed. No pets allowed. CSA-approved helmets strongly recommended. Lights go off at 11 p.m.
• 8 a.m. — Assiniboine Community College Cougars host the North Dakota State University Bison in women’s hockey at the Sportsplex.
• 10 a.m. — Craft Sale upstairs at Elton Community Centre in Forrest until 4 p.m. featuring crafts by Manitobans. Available items include baking, jams, jewelry, knitting, wooden signs and more.
• 2 p.m. — Guided Winter Nature Walk departs from Crow’s General Store. Join us for a 1-2 hour interpretive tour of Brandon’s east-end riparian woods, following trails that are sometimes developed and sometimes entirely natural. All ages are welcome. Dress for the weather, with special attention to the feet … there is some deeper snow out there!

• March 31 — Taxidermy Tuesday at the Brandon General Museum and Archives, 19 Ninth St. from 5-7 p.m. This is a still-life open studio. Subjects will be briefly discussed and introduced beforehand. Bring your own paper and art supplies. Wet and dry media are both allowed. This open studio is available the last Tuesday of each month (unless stated otherwise). Drop-in fee of $5 with coffee and tea available for participants.
• April 1-4 — Rotary Club of Brandon hosts its Spring Book Sale at the Victoria Inn (Imperial Ballroom). Sale hours are: Wednesday 5-8 p.m.; Thursday 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Saturday 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Donations for the sale can be dropped off now in the yellow Rotary bins conveniently located at various Brandon businesses.
