FRIDAY
• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Brandon Farmers’ Market inside The Town Centre (800 Rosser Ave., Brandon). Local fresh produce, baking, jams and jellies, pickling, yarn, bison, beef, beeswax candles, crafts and more. This event runs year-round.

• 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. — Toddler storytime at the Shoppers Mall (1570 18th St., Brandon) location of the Western Manitoba Regional Library each Friday. Songs, stories, puzzles and games. • 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. — Dance and socialize at Central Community Centre (529 Fourth St., Brandon) on Friday afternoons. Music by Prairie Fire. Admission is $10 and includes lunch. For more information, call 204-729-9301.
• 6:15 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. — Classic rock and pop covers and outlaw country with Dan Kristof at Chez Angela Bakery and Café. While a $5 tip is suggested for the artist, there is otherwise no admission and no purchase necessary to attend.
SATURDAY
• 9 a.m. — Brandon Wildlife Association hosts the second Jigging for Jacks at the Brandon Wildlife dock on Lake Wahtopanah (east of Rivers). There will be $5,000 in cash prizes up for grabs. Registration starts at 9 a.m. Registration fee is $40, $10 for youth 15 and under. All anglers, regardless of age, must purchase a $40 ticket to be eligible for the cash prizes. Tickets must be presented at the time of measuring to be entered for cash prizes. All Manitoba fishing regulations apply for this tournament. Valid angling licences are required.
• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Curling Day in Canada at the Brandon Curling Club in the Keystone Centre (1175 18th St., Brandon). Try curling during this day of national celebration of the sport. Includes draw to the button contests and more. On-ice participants must bring clean indoor running shoes. Brooms, sticks and sliders provided. Activities and games on and off the ice. SUNDAY
• 7 p.m. — A Comedy Night with Debra DiGiovanni at the Keystone Centre Amphitheatre. Doors open at 6 p.m., show at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $36 each, available through Ticketmaster.
MONDAY
• 1:15 to 4 p.m. — The East End Sunshine Card Club meets Mondays at the East End Community Centre at the corner of Victoria Avenue East and Park Street. Coffee and snacks. Members and guests welcome. For more information, call 204-727-3539.
• 6:30 p.m. — UCT Travo Bingo (205 College Ave., Brandon) takes place each Monday. Doors open at 4 p.m., and the early bird starts at 6:30 p.m. Regular games start at 7:10 p.m. Chase the Ace each week. Proceeds go to help those in need in Brandon and area.
TUESDAY

BRANDON RIVERBANK ART AUCTION
• Thursday to Saturday — Silent art auction at the Discovery Centre, open Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. On Saturday, an art gala and final bidding will be held and refreshments will be served. The auction features Westman artists such as Weiming Zhao, Sandy Black, Douglas Brolund, Patricia Beech, Patrick Stone, Betty Sawatzky and others. AT THE CLUBS
• The 40 (210 18th St. North, Brandon) — On Friday and Saturday, Mark Kogan and Rocket 88 play rock and country. Cover charge is $10. Show times are 10:30 p.m. each night. This is an 18-plus event and photo identification is required.
• Lady of the Lake (135-B 17th St. North, Brandon) — On Friday, Roots/rock musician Mitchell Makoons performs at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available online at ladyofthelake.ca or at the door. Vertigo will then take the stage 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. with acoustic covers of ’90s grunge hits; tickets are $5. Patrons are asked to, once they buy their tickets, make a reservation by calling 204-726-8785.
MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES
• Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118, Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — The only museum in the world dedicated to telling the story of more than 200,000 gunners who served Canada. The museum’s collection consists of more than 65,000 artifacts and includes more than 170 artillery pieces and vehicles. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. The “In Service of Peace” exhibit continues at the museum until the end of May. The exhibit highlights Canada’s experience in peacekeeping and peacemaking.
• Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, the Daly House was the original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia, toys and dolls and women’s wear. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. (September to June); Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. ( July and August). Admission: $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and youth (six to 18 years old), family (up to two adults and three children) $12, and children under five are free. Phone 204-727-1722 for more information. Saturday at 2 p.m. — Independent researcher, writer and documentary producer Tom Mitchell will speak about his latest project, the Kellock-Tashereau Inquiry, about allegations Canadian spy rings were selling secrets to the Soviet Union. • Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — A “contemporary art gallery that celebrates artistic excellence and diversity within our region and beyond.” The AGSM is Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first. Hours: 4 to 9 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. Phone 204-727-1036 or email: info@agsm.ca. Through March 18 — the “Here and There” exhibit presents the work of two self-taught artists whose work features imaginary landscapes and idealized memories. • Killarney’s Heritage Home for the Arts (44 Water Ave., Killarney) — The Killarney Turtle Mountain Arts Council’s gallery is in the Heritage Home for the Arts. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. The gallery is closed all statutory holidays. Special tours can be arranged by calling the arts administrator at 431-280-0023. Ending Saturday, “Portraits,” an exhibition by Nicholas Kowal.
• Brandon General Museum and Archives (19 Ninth St.) — Exhibits include Manitoba telephone history, Brandon History Hall, the BJ Hales Gallery and the William G. On Feb. 26, from 2 to 3 p.m., the museum presents “Show and Tell: The Chinese Experience” in Brandon. • 26th Field Regiment RCA/ XII Manitoba Dragoons Museum (within the Brandon Armoury, 1116 Victoria Ave.) — The museum is open Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed for lunch. Also open by appointment.
• Artsforward (293 Mountain Ave., Neepawa) — February’s exhibit is “Mind and Heart” by Victoria Prince, a series of black-ink drawings and alcohol-ink paintings that explores the connection between neuroscience and the human heart.
AT THE EVANS THEATRE
• Friday to Sunday, all shows at 7:30 p.m. — “Guitar Lessons”: A Métis teenager tries to convince a former musician and current oilman to give him guitar lessons. Tickets: $6.
