FRIDAY

• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Brandon Farmers’ Market inside The Town Centre (800 Rosser Ave., Brandon). Local fresh produce, baking, jams and jellies, pickling, yarn, bison, beef, beeswax candles, crafts and more. This event runs year-round.

• Noon to 1 p.m. — Trans Day of Visibility lunchtime concert at Brandon University (270 18th St., Brandon). Join BUQueer and the LGBTTQ* Collective in celebrating the trans community with a lunchtime concert featuring a performance by Anastasia Jane in the Mingling Area.

• 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. — Dance and socialize at Central Community Centre (529 Fourth St., Brandon) on Friday afternoons. Music by Prairie Fire. Admission is $10 and includes lunch. For more information, call 204-729-9301.

• 7:30 p.m. — The Brandon Chamber Players present “A Night to Tango” featuring works by Luis Ramirez at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. Tickets are available in advance by calling Joyce at the School of Music (204-727-9631) or by reserving at the Brandon Chamber Players website: brandonchamberplayers.ca, or at the door.

• 7:30 to 11 p.m. — Club 77 invites everyone to dance at the Shriners Hall (1110 McTavish Ave. East). Admission is $15. Everyone is welcome, lunch will be served. Music by Larry and the Boys.

SATURDAY

• 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. — Dungeons and Dragons Saturdays at the Western Manitoba Regional Library (Unit 1, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon). Learn to play one of the world’s most popular role-playing games. All ages and skill levels are invited to this beginner program. Bringing your own dice is welcome but not required. Sessions will also be held at the same time on April 1, 15 and 29. • 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Perogy lunch and perogy sale at St. Jude’s Church (58 Main St. South, Erickson). Perogies, sausage, coleslaw, dessert and beverage. Adults $12. Frozen perogies, five dozen per bag, available for $30.

• 7:30 p.m.— The BU Orchestra Concert takes place at the St. Matthew’s Cathedral. Tickets available at the door, with pricing as follows: $10 adults, $5 for ages 13 to 18. Free for BU students, Conservatory of Music students and those under 12.

• 6 p.m. — Brandon Bouts Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Super Fights at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium. Top Jiu Jitsu athletes from across Western Canada will showcase the martial art. Tickets are $29 and available online at wmca.ca, at the auditorium box office, or by calling 204-728-9510.

MONDAY

• 1:15 to 4 p.m. — The East End Sunshine Card Club meets Mondays at the East End Community Centre at the corner of Victoria Avenue East and Park Street. Coffee and snacks. Members and guests welcome. For more information, call 204-727-3539.

• 6:30 p.m. — UCT Travo Bingo (205 College Ave., Brandon) takes place each Monday. Doors open at 4 p.m., and the early bird starts at 6:30 p.m. Regular games start at 7:10 p.m. Chase the Ace each week. Proceeds go to help those in need in Brandon and area.

• 7:30 p.m. — The Brandon University Concert Choir and BU Chorale perform at Knox United Church (451 18th St., Brandon). You are invited to a choral evening of works from Mozart to Sewepagaham. Prices: $12 for adults, $5 for ages 13-18 and free for under 12. No admission fee required for Music Conservatory students.

TUESDAY

• 7 to 9 p.m. — The Wheat City Carvers meet each Tuesday until mid-April at the Vincent Massey High School drafting room to share the skill of carving and woodwork with fellow carvers of all skill levels. For more information, call Bette Tardiff at 204-726-4191 or Craig Miller at 204-761-2013.

WEDNESDAY

• 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. — The Brandon Embroiderers meet weekly to share their love of needlework, learn new skills and stitch together. All levels and abilities are welcome to attend. Call Dianne at 204-725-1445 or Darlene at 204-727-1624 for more information.

• 3:20 to 4:45 p.m. — LEGO Bricks and Bits Club at the Lakeland Regional Library (318 Williams Ave., Killarney). LEGO provided, no registration, build your own adventure, complete challenges. LEGO builds will be displayed weekly.

• 5 to 8 p.m. — Wednesday Knights at Chez Angela Bakery and Café (Unit C, 29 10th St., Brandon). The Brandon Knights Chess Club joins Chez Angela on Wednesday evenings. Players of all skill levels are welcome.

AT THE CLUBS

• The 40 (210 18th St. North, Brandon) — On Friday at 9 p.m., the Chris Ghidoni Band plays a mix of classic rock, newer blues, popular R&B, and hits from the 1980s and ’90s. There is a $10 cover charge. This is an 18-plus event and photo identification is required. Outlaw/neo-traditional country music artist Jesse Genns plays at 9 p.m. Saturday. • Lady of the Lake (135-B 17th St. North, Brandon) — On Friday, Lady of the Lake hosts a Trans* Day of Visibility and Celebration, showcasing performers who identify as trans, non-binary, and/or two-spirited.

MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES

• Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118, Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — The only museum in the world dedicated to telling the story of more than 200,000 gunners who served Canada. The museum’s collection consists of more than 65,000 artifacts and includes more than 170 artillery pieces and vehicles. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. The “In Service of Peace” exhibit continues at the museum until the end of May. The exhibit highlights Canada’s experience in peacekeeping and peacemaking.

• Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, the Daly House was the original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia, toys, dolls and women’s wear. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. (September to June); Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. (July and August). • Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — A “contemporary art gallery that celebrates artistic excellence and diversity within our region and beyond.” The AGSM is Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first. Ending Friday — the “Here and There” exhibit presents the work of two self-taught artists whose work features imaginary landscapes and idealized memories. Through April 1 — “The Emily Jan: Kali Yuga.” This series is a meditation on themes of disappearance, collapse and hope amid ruins. Until June 3 — “The Long and the Short of It, Brandon Embroiderers” (reception April 13 at 7 p.m.). In celebration of the group’s 25th anniversary, the exhibition showcases recent work by members of the Brandon Embroiderers. Traditional and contemporary techniques will be featured, including blackwork, Hardanger, canvas work, cross stitch, crewel, goldwork, candlewicking, needle painting, ribbon and stumpwork.

• Killarney’s Heritage Home for the Arts (44 Water Ave., Killarney) — The Killarney Turtle Mountain Arts Council’s gallery is in the Heritage Home for the Arts. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. The gallery is closed all statutory holidays. Special tours can be arranged by calling the arts administrator at 431-280-0023. March 3-31: “She’s too Much; Celebrating Women,” featuring the art of Richelle Treloar.

• Brandon General Museum and Archives (19 Ninth St.) — Exhibits include Manitoba telephone history, Brandon History Hall, the BJ Hales Gallery and the William G. • 26th Field Regiment RCA/XII Manitoba Dragoons Museum (within the Brandon Armoury, 1116 Victoria Ave.) — The museum is open Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed for lunch. Also open by appointment.

• Artsforward (293 Mountain Ave., Neepawa) — ArtsForward is the central arts venue in Neepawa, in visual, literary, performing and material arts. Hours are: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays to Thursdays; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays; closed on weekends.

AT THE EVANS THEATRE

• Friday through Sunday — “Broker”: Sang-hyeon is always struggling from debt, and Dong-soo works at a baby box facility. On a rainy night, they steal the baby Woo-sung, who was left in the baby box, to sell him at a good price. Meanwhile, detectives were watching, and they quietly track them down to capture the crucial evidence. Showtimes at 7:30 p.m.

ROYAL MANITOBA WINTER FAIR CONTINUES

• Until Saturday — The Royal Manitoba Winter Fair at the Keystone Centre (1175 18th St., Brandon). One of Western Canada’s largest agricultural events. World-class show jumping, heavy horse competitions, livestock sales and displays, live entertainers and more than 300 commercial and agricultural exhibits.

THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL

• April 13-15 — Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School presents this stage show — based on the popular Nickelodeon animated series — at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium. Showtimes are 7 p.m. on April 13-14, and 2 p.m. on April 15. Tickets: adults, $20; seniors and students $15; 12 and under, $12. UPCOMING EVENTS

• April 11 — The Western Manitoba Science Fair at the Brandon University Healthy Living Centre (2010 Louise Ave.). More than 300 students competing. Open to public viewing, free admission, 2 to 4 p.m. The awards ceremony for grades 1 to 6 is at 4:30 p.m., and the ceremony for grades 7 to 12 is at 7:30 p.m.

• April 22 — Stampeders in Concert, Celebrating 50 Years, at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium (available online at wmca.ca, at the auditorium box office, or by calling 204-728-9510). The Stampeders were truly the country’s international musical ambassadors, touring more extensively in Canada and overseas than any other Canadian group during that time. • April 22 — Sunset Rotary Club of Brandon presents the 11th annual Brandon Beer Tasting Festival, 7 to 10 p.m. in the Imperial Ballroom of the Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre. Tickets are $35 and available at Brandon Liquor Marts and at the door of the event. Samples included and a light lunch served. Proceeds support the YWCA Westman Women’s Shelter and other local charities.
