FRIDAY
• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Brandon Farmers’ Market inside The Town Centre (800 Rosser Ave., Brandon). Local fresh produce, baking, jams and jellies, pickling, yarn, bison, beef, beeswax candles, crafts and more. This event runs year-round.

• 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. — Dance and socialize at Central Community Centre (529 Fourth St., Brandon) on Friday afternoons. Music by Prairie Fire. Admission is $10 and includes lunch. For more information, call 204-729-9301.
• 2 to 4 p.m. — PD Days at the Western Manitoba Regional Library (downtown branch). For school children with nowhere to go on PD days. This Friday’s event features a pyjama party and movie time. Email programs@wmrl.ca to register.
• 4 p.m. — Whose Alumni is it Anyway? at Chez Angela Bakery and Café and hosted by the Brandon University Alumni Association. Drama graduates lead an improv night in the style of “Whose Line is it Anyway?” Doors open at 4 p.m., and the show starts at 5 p.m.
• 7 p.m. — Killarney Turtle Mountain Arts Council presents Will’s Jams at the Shamrock Centre (725 Broadway Ave, Killarney). Families are invited to a free pizza party at 6 p.m. (tickets must be bought in advance). Doors for the show open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for youth aged 13 to 18, and children 12 and under get in free. SATURDAY
• 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. — Dungeons and Dragons Saturdays at the Western Manitoba Regional Library (Unit 1, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon). Learn to play one of the world’s most popular roleplaying games. All ages and skill levels are invited to this beginner program. Bringing your own dice is welcome, but not required. Email programs@wmrl.ca to sign up.
• 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Melita Spring Craft Sale at Enns Brothers Place (108 Townsend Dr., Melita). Admission is by silver collections. Lunch will be served in the kitchen, with soup and sandwiches and taco in a bag.
• 2 p.m. — The Spring Fling — Live Amateur Boxing at the Keystone Centre (1175 18th St., Brandon) amphitheatre. Hosted by Peak Performance and sanctioned by Boxing Manitoba. Tickets $32 to $48, available at ticketmaster.ca.
• 7:30 to 11 p.m. — Club 77 invites everyone to dance to the music of Northern Reflections at the Shriner’s Hall (1110 McTavish Ave. East). Admission is $15. Lunch will be served. For more information, call 204-729-9301.
SUNDAY
• 10 a.m. — Maple Syrup Tours 2023 at Assiniboine Food Forest and Treesblood Farm (1735 Rosser Ave. East). Reserve a spot for a tour of the Maple Bush and Sugar Shack. See maple syrup production at Treesblood Farm, from sap harvest to syrup production. Meals, maple taffy and maple syrup for sale. To book a tour, call 204-728-6278. Tours are $5 per person and will be held at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
MONDAY
• 1:15 to 4 p.m. — The East End Sunshine Card Club meets Mondays at the East End Community Centre at the corner of Victoria Avenue East and Park Street. Coffee and snacks. Members and guests welcome. For more information, call 204-727-3539.
• 6:30 p.m. — UCT Travo Bingo (205 College Ave., Brandon) takes place every Monday. Doors open at 4 p.m., and the early bird starts at 6:30 p.m. Regular games start at 7:10 p.m. Chase the Ace each week. Proceeds go to help those in need in Brandon and area.
TUESDAY
• 7:30 p.m. — Pro Series: CALMUS vocal ensemble at Lorne Watson Recital Hall on the Brandon University campus (270 18th St., Brandon). The ensemble is one of Germany’s most successful vocal groups.
WEDNESDAY
• 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. — The Brandon Embroiderers meet weekly to share their love of needlework, learn new skills and stitch together. All levels and abilities are welcome to attend. Call Dianne at 204-725-1445 or Darlene at 204-727-1624 for more information.
• 3:20 to 4:45 p.m. — LEGO Bricks and Bits Club at the Lakeland Regional Library (318 Williams Ave., Killarney). LEGO provided, no registration, build your own adventure, complete challenges. LEGO builds will be displayed weekly.
• 5 to 8 p.m. — Wednesday Knights at Chez Angela Bakery and Café (Unit C, 29 10th St., Brandon). The Brandon Knights Chess Club joins Chez Angela on Wednesday evenings. Players of all skill levels are welcome.
AT THE CLUBS
• The 40 (210 18th St. North, Brandon) — Celebrate the 10th anniversary of local rock favourites Daisy Chain on April 14-15, with special guest Gear Machine. Doors open at 9 p.m. and there’s a $10 cover. This is an 18-plus event and photo identification is required.
• Lady of the Lake (135-B 17th St. North, Brandon) — The Dorato String Quartet will play a free show at 6 p.m. on Friday. Dorato String Quartet is a group born in Brandon, by former and soon to be Brandon University graduates. The group combines diverse musical styles, from baroque, classical and romantic music to tango, mariachi and rock. Then, singer and songwriter Zach Weston also plays Friday, from 9 to 11 p.m. Tickets for Weston’s show are $5 and available through Eventbrite.ca.
MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES
• Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118 Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — The only museum in the world dedicated to telling the story of more than 200,000 gunners who served Canada. The museum’s collection consists of more than 65,000 artifacts and includes more than 170 artillery pieces and vehicles. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. The “In Service of Peace” exhibit continues at the museum until the end of May. The exhibit highlights Canada’s experience in peacekeeping and peacemaking.
• Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, the Daly House was the original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia, toys, dolls and women’s wear. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. (September to June); Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. (July and August). Admission: $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and youth (six to 18 years old), family (up to two adults and three children) $12, and children under five are free. Phone 204-727-1722 for more information.
• Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — A “contemporary art gallery that celebrates artistic excellence and diversity within our region and beyond.” The AGSM is Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first. Hours: 4 to 9 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. Phone 204-727-1036 or email: info@agsm.ca. Until June 3 — “The Long and the Short of It, Brandon Embroiderers.” Reception tonight at 7 p.m. In celebration of the group’s 25th anniversary, the exhibition showcases recent work by members of Brandon Embroiderers. Traditional and contemporary techniques will be featured, including blackwork, Hardanger, canvas work, cross stitch, crewel, goldwork, candlewicking, needle painting, ribbon and stumpwork. Today through June 17 — “Stimulus/Response” by The Drawn Together Collective. In this exhibition, the 10 current members of the collective responded to works written by women of the Canadian Prairies, from the quintessential world of Margaret Lawrence’s “Manawaka” to a coming-of-midlife memoir written by a childhood friend.
• Killarney’s Heritage Home for the Arts (44 Water Ave., Killarney). The Killarney Turtle Mountain Arts Council’s gallery is in the Heritage Home for the Arts. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. The gallery is closed all statutory holidays. Special tours can be arranged by calling the arts administrator at 431-280-0023. Through April 29 — “The Geography of Home” featuring the mosaic and rug art work of Sharon Stobbe Loeppky. Opening reception is Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
• Brandon General Museum and Archives (19 Ninth St.) — Exhibits include Manitoba telephone history, Brandon History Hall, the BJ Hales Gallery and the William G. • 26th Field Regiment RCA/XII Manitoba Dragoons Museum (within the Brandon Armoury, 1116 Victoria Ave.) — The museum is open Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed for lunch. Also open by appointment.
• ArtsForward (293 Mountain Ave., Neepawa) — ArtsForward is the central arts venue in Neepawa, in visual, literary, performing and material arts. Hours are: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays to Thursdays; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays; closed on weekends.
AT THE EVANS THEATRE
• Friday through Sunday — “Coco Ferme”: Newly moved to the countryside, Max, a budding young entrepreneur, is looking for a new business opportunity. With the help of his cousin Charles and their friend Alice, the trio start a business producing fresh eggs laid by “happy hens.” Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $6.
THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL
• Tonight through Saturday — Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School presents this stage show, based on the popular Nickelodeon animated series, at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium. MANITOBA MAPLE SYRUP FESTIVAL

• April 22 — Sunset Rotary Club of Brandon presents the 11th annual Brandon Beer Tasting Festival, 7 to 10 p.m. in the Imperial Ballroom of the Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre. Tickets are $35 and available at Brandon Liquor Marts and at the door of the event. Samples included and a light lunch served. Proceeds support the YWCA Westman Women’s Shelter and other local charities.
• April 22 — The Brandon Conservatory Chorale celebrates its 40th anniversary with a special performance at this year’s Spring Sing Concert. Nearly 40 alumni and family members will join the celebration, singing in a mass choir performance. The concert will be held at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church (339 12th St., Brandon).
• April 27-30 — Mecca Productions presents “The Sound of Music” at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. for April 27-28, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on April 29, and 2 p.m. on April 30. Tickets are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors and students, and $20 for children 12 and under.
