BRANDON UNIVERSITY

• There are no classes this week for the fall study break, but there are still some events planned at Brandon University before classes resume on Monday, Nov. 18.

• Brandon University will be the destination for the Take Back the Night march on Thursday. The march, held to raise awareness about gender-based violence, will begin at Princess Park, with guest speakers and drumming, before participants walk to BU, starting at 5 p.m.

• The Bobcats basketball teams are at home this weekend, hosting the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns on Friday and Saturday. The women will start the action off on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the women will begin at 5 p.m., with the men following at 7:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the Bobcats volleyball teams will be in Winnipeg to visit the University of Manitoba Bisons this weekend.

• BU fine arts students will be showcased next week. On Wednesday, Nov. 20, a ceramics pottery fundraising sale will take place at the entrance to the library building. Then, the Glen P. Sutherland Gallery of Art at BU will showcase the work of first-year fine arts students, beginning on Nov. 21. Student art will be featured from drawing, clay, painting and visual design classes. An opening reception will be held on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. Gallery hours are Thursdays from 2 to 8 p.m., Fridays from 2 to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 2 to 6 p.m.

• The Russ Edwards School of Agriculture and Environment at Assiniboine College is hosting the annual agronomy school on Nov. 27. This one-day event provides agricultural professionals with the latest insights on crop management, soil health, technology and industry trends. • The ACSA is hosting a workshop to build resilience and develop a plan for managing stress. These workshops are facilitated by Mireille Saurette. • The annual Ag Partnership Breakfast is happening on Jan. 22, 2025, from 7-9 a.m. at the Dome Building on the Keystone Centre grounds during Manitoba Ag Days. This event supports agriculture at Assiniboine, raising funds to support financial awards for students in agricultural-based programs and related trades at the college.
