• Brandon University professor Nora Wilson, on trombone, will be joined by Danielle Guina, on piano, for a recital on Wednesday. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. Donations for Samaritan House will be accepted at the concert, and all are welcome.

• Jamie Ritch of the University of Winnipeg will present this week’s Science Seminar Series talk on Friday at 2:30 p.m., in Room 4-47 of the John R. Brodie Science Centre. The talk will focus on the chemistry of selenium-containing molecules. The event will also be available online. Email TeepleH@BrandonU.ca for more information.

• The Bobcats soccer teams will conclude their regular season with matches against the Assiniboine College Cougars on Sunday at Cougars Field. The women’s match begins at 1 p.m., followed by the men’s match at 3:15. The Bobcat volleyball teams both begin their Canada West season this weekend by visiting the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds. The basketball season begins next week.

• The Brandon Chamber Players present “Songs from the Porch” on Oct. 23. Featuring music composed by BU’s Diogo Peixoto during the COVID-19 pandemic, the concert will feature Peixoto on guitar, joined by Marika Galea on bass, Eric Platz on percussion and Luis Deniz on saxophone. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall, and ticket information is available at BrandonChamberPlayers.ca.

• The Assiniboine College Students’ Association’s second annual Nightmare Knockout Halloween Dodgeball Tournament is back — bigger, bolder and set to deliver a fun night of competition and fun. Participants are invited to form teams of six to eight players and compete for exciting prizes in this high-energy event. The tournament takes place on Nov. 1, and registration is open until Oct. 17. Halloween Spirit Week at Assiniboine takes place Oct. 27-31. Get spooky, silly and spirited during Halloween week. Assiniboine students are invited to celebrate Halloween with a week of themed spirit days designed to showcase creativity, costume flair and school spirit. • The Cougars women’s and men’s soccer teams play host to the Brandon University Bobcats Sunday at Cougars Field. Meanwhile, the Cougars women’s volleyball team plays host to Dakota College in exhibition action. All game times can be found at assiniboine.net/athletics.

• Join us for Cheers & Beers at this year’s volleyball home opener on Oct. 24 at the Victoria Avenue East Campus. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Free admission.
