Our Journey, a celebration of Indigenous student success, will take place on Friday at the Riverbank Discovery Centre from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event, which celebrates students from BU, Assiniboine College and the Brandon School Division, includes a grand entry at 11 a.m., followed by a hotdog barbecue lunch and an afternoon powwow. The day will conclude with a feast.

• Brandon University will recognize the Class of 2026 during Convocation ceremonies on Thursday, May 28, and Friday, May 29, at the Healthy Living Centre. The ceremony for the Faculty of Science and School of Music will be first, at 10 a.m. on May 28, followed by the Faculty of Education at 2 p.m. The May 29 ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m., for Health Studies, and at 2 p.m., for the Faculty of Arts.

• A bus trip to Winnipeg is being organized for Saturday, June 6 for BU alumni, students and employees who would like to see “Rattle: A Sixties Scoop Play.” Written by Brandon University professors Darrell Racine and Dale Lakevold, the award-winning play is based on the true stories of two former BU students. The play will be staged from June 3-7 at the Asper Centre for Theatre and Film in Winnipeg, and the deadline to register for the bus trip is May 29 at 3 p.m. For more details about the play and the bus trip, visit Events.BrandonU.ca.

Summer badminton is returning to the Healthy Living Centre. The Sunday afternoon sessions hosted by the Brandon Badminton Club are for youth ages 10 and up, and parents are encouraged to join and play alongside their kids. Visit HealthyLivingCentre.ca for more information.

ASSINIBOINE COLLEGE

• The Assiniboine College alumni association is hosting alumni at Winnipeg Goldeyes home opener this evening. Be sure to stop on by and catch up with your fellow alumni while watching a ball game at Blue Cross Park.

• The Russ Edwards School of Agriculture and Environment is hosting a weed seedling identification day. This event will happen at our North Hill campus on Thursday. Registration is required, so please visit assiniboine.net/events for more information and to register.

• Join us as we celebrate First Nation, Métis and Inuit student achievements in education. Students will be honoured through ceremony and tradition. There will be a barbecue during the day and feast in the evening for friends and family, entertainment, and an opportunity to share in one another’s accomplishments.
