Drew Jones shot a 3-over 75 on Wednesday to sit in third place in the Golf Manitoba men’s mid-amateur championship at Granite Hills Golf Course.

The Brandonite made two birdies and lost two balls but only carded one double-bogey, playing the par 5s 1 over at the Lac du Bonnet track. He’s three strokes back of Allan McDonald of Breezy Bend Country Club (72).

Shilo Country Club’s Brad Pardy is in 10th after posting 78, Nolan Tutkaluk is 27th with an 84 and Chris Sitko is 29th with an 85.

Carberry’s Joel Baron fired 88 to sit 34th while Glenboro’s Glen Ford carded a 98 and is 48th out of 51.

Meanwhile, in the women’s amateur, Killarney’s Cala Korman, Binscarth’s Clara Peake and Clear Lake member Jeri Lafleche are tied for fifth with 9-over 81s.

Four players are tied for the lead at 7 over.

Brandon’s Payton Oakden is in 12th with a 94, while Jewel Lafleche and Swan River’s Crystal Zamzow are tied for 13th with 97s.

Round 2 goes today and the final round is Friday.
