Evan Nachtigall won the all-Brandon battle in Golf Manitoba’s match play provincial championship at Quarry Oaks Golf Course on Friday.
Nachtigall, who plays out of Wheat City Golf Course, downed Shilo Country Club’s Keaton Jameson 3 and 2 to reach the quarterfinals against Marco Trstenjak. The medallist dropped Pilot Mound’s Will Hudson 3 and 2.
Brandon’s Ryden Hargreaves eliminated Trey Ross on their first playoff hole and plays Mark Di Ubaldo in the other quarterfinal on the top half of the draw.
Dauphin’s Thomas Scott lost 3 and 2 to Ryan McMillan, leaving no more Westman players in the final eight.
The quarterfinals are today, along with the women’s round of 16 and quarters.
The semifinals and finals are on Sunday.
