It appears Canadians Josh Palmer and Michael Hoecht will be playing football a lot closer to home now.

Palmer, a receiver from Brampton, Ont., and Hoecht, a defensive lineman from Oakville, Ont., both reached agreements with the Buffalo Bills on Monday.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Palmer’s three-year deal is worth US$36 million while Hoecht’s contract is also for three years with a maximum value of $24 million.

The six-foot-one, 210-pound Palmer had 39 catches for 584 yards and a touchdown last season with the Los Angeles Chargers. The club selected Palmer in the third round, No. 77 overall, in the 2021 NFL draft out of Tennessee. He has registered 182 career catches for 2,287 yards and 10 touchdowns in 58 games with the NFL club.

The agreement with Palmer comes a day after Buffalo signed quarterback Josh Allen — the NFL’s MVP last season — to a six-year extension reportedly worth $330 million.

The 27-year-old Hoecht joins the Bills after five seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. The six-foot-four, 267-pound Hoecht originally signed with Los Angeles as an undrafted free agent out of Brown University.

Hoecht started 31 of 68 games with Los Angeles, registering 159 tackles (80 solo, 15 for loss), 13.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He was with the Rams when they won Super Bowl 56.
