SUDBURY, Ont. – Owen Allard scored the winner at 11:31 of the third period as the Soo Greyhounds edged the Sudbury Wolves 3-2 on Wednesday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
Travis Hayes — with an assist — and Brady Martin also had goals for Sault Ste. Marie (27-35-4). Netminder Nolan Lalonde kicked out 27 of 29 shots.
The Greyhounds are seventh in the OHL’s Western Conference but haven’t yet clinched a playoff spot with two games remaining this season.
They have 58 points, three more than the eighth-seeded Owen Sound Attack and ninth-seeded Sarnia Sting with one more game played.
Chase Coughlan and Greg Najda replied for Sudbury (32-29-5) while goalie Nate Krawchuk saved 33 of 36 shots.
The Wolves have already booked their place in the OHL post-season.

BRANTFORD, Ont. — NHL draft prospect Porter Martone scored twice as the Brampton Steelheads thumped the Brantford Bulldogs.
Gabriel Chiarot, Konnor Smith, Jack Van Volsen, Kieran Witkowski and Aidan Lane also scored for Brampton (34-22-10). Steelheads goaltender Jack Ivankovic saved 19 of 21 shots.
Thomas Budnick and Aiden O’Donnell replied for Brantford (42-19-5). Bulldogs netminder Ryerson Leenders kicked out 27 of 33 shots.
Both teams have clinched spots in the OHL playoffs.
