VAL-D’OR, Que. – Vince Elie capped a two-goal effort by scoring the game-winning marker 1:40 into overtime as the Shawinigan Cataractes squeezed past the Val-d’Or Foreurs 5-4 on Friday in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action.

Kody Dupuis, Matvei Gridin and Félix Lacerte also scored for Shawinigan (37-18-3-5). Mathys Fernandez made 30 saves.

Noah Reinhart, Philippe Veilleux, Donovan Arsenault and Samuel Fiala replied for Val-d’Or (28-28-6-1). Émile Beaunoyer stopped 24 shots.

Tied at 3-3 entering the third period, Fiala broke the tie 1:34 into the frame. Lacerte responded just over a minute later, eventually sending the game to overtime and setting the stage for Elie’s winner.

VOLTIGEURS 4 PHOENIX 2

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Justin Larose netted a power-play goal and a short-handed marker to open the scoring for the Drummondville Voltigeurs as they topped the Sherbrooke Phoenix 4-2.

Ethan Gauthier and Nathan Baril also scored for Drummondville (40-17-3-3).

Florent Houle and Hugo Primeau replied for Sherbrooke (33-24-2-4).

OCEANIC 5 REMPARTS 1 

RIMOUSKI, QUE — Jacob Mathieu and Dominic Pilote each had a goal and an assist as the Rimouski Oceanic cruised past the Quebec Remparts 5-1.

Jack Martin, with a short-handed goal, Lou Lévesque and Eriks Mateiko contributed to the rest of the scoring for Rimouski (45-14-2-2).

Félix Pronovost scored the lone goal for Quebec (23-33-3-4).

WILDCATS 7 MOOSEHEADS 2

MONCTON — Dyllan Gill and Pier-Etienne Cloutier each had a goal and an assist as the Moncton Wildcats crushed the Halifax Moosehads 7-2.

Riley Sampson, Simon Binkley, Preston Lounsbury, Alex Mercier and Gabe Smith provided the rest of the offence for Moncton (52-9-2), which outscored the Mooseheads 4-1 in the third period alone after entering the frame up 3-1.

Shawn Carrier and Quinn Kennedy replied for Halifax (19-35-8-1).

HUSKIES 6 ARMADA 0

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Samuel Meloche got a 31-save shutout in helping lead the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies to a 6-0 drubbing of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

Eliot Ogonowski, Rémi Gélinas, Nathan Langlois, Antonin Verreault, Alex Carr and Samuel Rousseau scored for Rouyn-Noranda (37-18-3-5).

Félix Hamel gave up four goals on 14 shots in the opening 20 minutes for Blainville-Boisbriand (34-21-6-2) before making way for Vincent Gladu, who stopped 20-of-22 shots in relief.

DRAKKAR 2 SAGUENEENS 1

CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Louis-Charles Plourde scored the eventual winner 1:06 into the second period as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar defeated the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 2-1.

Alexis Michaud opened the scoring for Baie-Comeau (35-23-4-1) at 6:47 of the first period.

Maxim Massé put Chicoutimi (36-17-3-7) on the board with 3:57 left in the game.

TITAN 3 ISLANDERS 1

CHARLOTTETOWN — Mathieu St-Onge netted the winner with 2:25 remaining and added an empty-netter for good measure 28 seconds later as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan beat the Charlottetown Islanders 3-1.

Tyson Goguen also scored for Acadie-Bathurst (33-28-1-1), which scored three unanswered goals in the final 10 minutes of the third period.

Matthew Butler opened the scoring for Charlottetown (29-29-4-1) at 4:30 of the first period.

EAGLES 4 SEA DOGS 1

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Alexis Cournoyer made 32 saves to help lead the Cape Breton Eagles to a 4-1 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs. 

Luke Patterson, Brayden Schmitt, with a short-handed goal, Alexis Toussaint and Cam Squires, with an empty-netter, scored for Cape Breton (33-23-4-3).

Matthew Krayer ended Cournoyer’s shutout bid with 2:20 left in the contest for Saint John (21-42-0).

OLYMPIQUES 4 TIGRES 1

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. —  Julien Paillé scored his 21st of the season on a third-period power play as the Gatineau Olympiques defeated the Victoriaville Tigres 4-1.

Taos Jordan, Isaiah Parent and Jacob Kaine also scored for Gatineau (16-32-8-7), which only needed 10 saves from Iain Wintle.

Olivier Houde had the lone goal for Victoriaville (16-43-1-3), which got 45 stops from Gabriel D’Aigle.
