MOOSE JAW – Riley Thorpe scored in the fourth round of the shootout, netminder Matthew Hutchison made 38 saves, and the Moose Jaw Warriors found a way to beat the visiting Red Deer Rebels 5-4 in Western Hockey League action on Tuesday at the Temple Gardens Centre.

Lynden Lakovic had two goals for the Warriors and Pavel McKenzie chipped in with two assists, as the Warriors improved to 6-5-1-0, despite being outshot 42-26. Ethan Semeniuk and Landen McFadden netted singles for the hosts, who went 2-for-5 on the power play.

Ty Coupland and Arjun Bawa each had a goal and assist for the Rebels, who slipped to 2-8-0-1. Noah Milford and Keith McInnis also scored for the visitors, who went 0-for-2 on the power play.

EDMONTON, Alta. — Gavin Burcar scored the only goal in the shootout as the visiting Spokane Chiefs clipped the Edmonton Oil Kings 3-2.

Chase Harrington and Burcar scored in regulation time for the Chiefs (7-5-0-0), who outshot the hosts 26-23.

Blake Fiddler and Andrew O’Neill scored for the Oil Kings (9-3-0-1), who went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Chiefs were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
