DAWSON CREEK – Josh Pauls had a goal and an assist as the United States handed Canada its first loss of the Para Cup hockey tournament, 3-2, on Wednesday.
Jack Wallace and Declan Farmer also scored for the U.S., which remained undefeated through three games.
Tyler McGregor had both goals for Canada.
Pauls opened the scoring at 7:49 of the opening period, with Wallace adding to the lead with one second left in the second period.
McGregor cut the deficit in half 2:08 into the third period before Farmer restored the Americans’ two-goal lead at 3:54. McGregor scored his second with 1:08 left in the contest.
Canada will next play Czechia in one semifinal, while the U.S. will play China in the other. Both games are set for Friday, while the medal games will be played on Saturday.
