NEW YORK – Florida Panthers forward Anton Lundell has been fined $5,000 for high-sticking Montreal Canadiens forward Alexandre Texier, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced Friday.
The fine is the maximum allowable under the league’s collective bargaining agreement.
The incident occurred at 16:51 of the second period of Thursday’s game in Montreal. Lundell was assessed a double-minor penalty for high-sticking.
The money will be directed to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
Texier recorded a hat trick in the Canadiens’ 6-2 win at the Bell Centre.
Texier was recently named to France’s men’s hockey team for next month’s Milano Cortina Olympics, while Lundell has been selected to represent Finland.
