TORONTO – The Great Canadian jersey has a little bit of everything.

The jersey, which brings together hockey uniforms from every province and territory in Canada, was unveiled Friday. It’s the latest instalment of Rogers’ This Is Our Game campaign.

Donated jerseys from Canadians — including hockey superstars Connor McDavid and Marie-Philip Poulin — were used to create patchwork designs. The jersey was designed by Cameron Lizotte, a former OHL player who’s now a fashion designer.

McDavid donated a jersey he wore with the York Simcoe Express, the team he won four Ontario Minor Hockey Association crowns with before heading to the GTHL’s Toronto Marlboros in 2011. Poulin contributed her first jersey with the PWHL’s Montreal Victoire.

Also stitched into the Great Canadian Jersey are patches from every province and territory in Canada, the seven Canadian-based NHL team uniforms as well as numerous minor league hockey teams.

“The Great Canadian Jersey is an artistic celebration of how hockey connects Canadians,” said Terrie Tweddle, Chief Brand and Communications Officer for Rogers. “We’re grateful to fans across the country who donated a jersey from their own collection to show their pride for our game.”

Rogers and Lizotte created five unique versions of The Great Canadian Jersey. They will be worn by Canada’s top hockey players over the coming weeks and be featured as part of a national advertising campaign.

“The design process for The Great Canadian Jersey was rooted in collaboration and storytelling, and the pride we all share in our game,” said Lizotte. “Every stitch is intentional, and every patch has meaning.

“Together, with representation from every province and territory, the jersey is a symbol of unity and a single expression of Canadian identity.”
