VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Canucks have added two more names to their extensive list of injured players.

The NHL team announced Monday that winger Brock Boeser and defenceman Zeev Buium have been placed on injured reserve after getting hurt in Vancouver’s 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday.

Boeser, stationed at the top of the Pittsburgh crease in the final seconds of the game, caught an elbow to the head from Bryan Rust and crumpled to the ice in a heap.

NHL Player Safety posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, that Rust will have a hearing Tuesday about the hit to Boeser’s head.

Buium was hit in the face with a puck in the first period, but returned wearing a bubble visor on his helmet and logged 15:41 in ice time in the game.

The duo join goalie Thatcher Demko (undisclosed), defenceman Derek Forbort (undisclosed) and centre Marco Rossi (lower-body) on the injured list.

Vancouver recalled forward Jonathan Lekkerimaki and defenceman Victor Mancini from the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League on Monday.

The Canucks (17-30-5) host the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.
