NEW YORK – Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele was named NHL first star of the week Monday after recording eight points over a three-game stretch.   

Scheifele scored his 18th career overtime goal in a 3-2 comeback win over the Chicago Blackhawks last Tuesday. 

He had the game-winning goal in a 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday and scored his 30th goal of the season in a 3-2 OT win over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.

Scheifele also had five assists on the week.

Colorado Avalanche forward Martin Necas was the second star. He had eight points (3-5) over four games.

Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson took the third star after recording seven points (2-5) over four games.
