VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenceman Zeev Buium to an eight-year contract extension worth US$9.38 million per season, the club announced Friday.
The 20-year-old had three goals and nine assists in 45 games with Vancouver last season.
Buium was acquired from the Minnesota Wild in December as part of the blockbuster trade that sent former Canucks captain Quinn Hughes to Minnesota.
The San Diego native has six goals and 20 assists in 76 career NHL games with the Wild and Canucks.
Buium was selected 12th overall by Minnesota in the 2024 NHL draft and won an NCAA championship with the University of Denver that year.
He also won gold with the United States at the 2023 world under-18 championship, the 2024 and 2025 world junior championships and the 2025 world championship.
