CALGARY – The Anaheim Ducks won their first three road games to start a season for the first time with a 4-2 win over the host Calgary Flames on Saturday.

Ducks centre Ryan Poehling scored the short-handed winner at 5:35 of the third period, but he was injured on the same play when he slid into the goalpost and Flames goalie Dustin Wolf.

Jackson Lacombe, Frank Vatrano and Nikita Nesterenko also scored for Anaheim (4-1-0), which won a second road game in as many nights after a 5-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Anaheim opened the season with a 4-3 road win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

Ducks goalie Ville Husso stopped 27 shots for the win in his first start of the season.

Morgan Frost and Aydar Suniev scored for Calgary (0-5-0), which started a season with five straight losses for the first time.

Matt Coronato had two assists and Dustin Wolf stopped 24 shots in the loss.

The game was level at 2-2 heading into the third, as the Flames failed to convert three power-play chances before the midway point of the period.

Poehling scored short-handed on Calgary’s second opportunity. Nesterenko scored Anaheim’s fourth goal at 17:03 in a goal-mouth scramble.

Suniev whipped a sharp-angled shot off Husso’s skate to tie the game 2-2 at 17:54 of the second period.

Anaheim’s challenge of a Flames goal for offside earlier in the period was successful.

Vatrano’s tip of a shot through traffic gave the Ducks at 2-1 lead with 45 seconds left in the first period.

Lacombe scored seconds into an Anaheim power play when he lifted a rebound over Wolf’s shoulder at 10:02.

An all-alone Frost drew the Flames even at 15:03 on a feed from Coronato.
