According to Wikipedia, “living organisms including humans are social when they live collectively in interacting populations, whether they are aware of it, and whether the interaction is voluntary or involuntary.”

On Jan. 4, the Brandon University psychiatric nursing class of 2019 had a voluntary social interaction at Houstons Country Roadhouse beginning at 6 p.m. The annual event is held to support the cost of graduation so that no one has to worry about the finances and can instead focus on celebrating this amazing milestone!

The event is held to raise money as well as mark and celebrate the academic success of all the students who have spent years working so hard for this moment.

The night began with some 150 people attending to enjoy dinner, cocktails and a lot of laughter at the Bud Spud portion of the event. Folks who were there for the early portion of the night competitively enjoyed games like, Giant Pong, Jumbo Jenga, and, last but not least and always a crowd favourite … Flippy Cup! Folks could also enjoy raffles, door prizes, 50/50 and much more!

Approximately 300 people were there by 9 p.m. to dance the night away and an amazing time was had by all those who came out to show their support.

This annual event is organized every year by the senior class of the psychiatric nursing program. Don’t be the person who forgets how to socialize voluntary or involuntary. Challenge yourself this year to step outside the box and see what’s going on in Brandon. Old-school interactions could very well change your life.
