Hey there, time traveller!

Mitchell Mozden is fast becoming a well-known name around these parts with his exceptional talent for both original music and covers.
Boasting a total of 46 shows in 2018, Mozden entertained folks at the Double Decker on Jan. 11 with a combination of originals and covers. I enjoyed hearing a very touching song he performed called “Best Friend.”
I asked Mozden what that song was about and he said the song describes his mom’s experience as a child when her best friend found out she was Aboriginal and would no longer play with her.
Mozden began playing out in 2014 at the young age of 15. His very first gig was at “Le Garage” in Winnipeg.
He plays as part of a trio, a quartet as well as his solo act. The trio consists of Nick Moffat, James Hamilton and Mozden, while the quartet consists of Kieran Wallace, Daniel Nemez, Matt Kozicki and Mozden. The musicians play a mixture of blues and rock, and Mozden says that he loves to connect with the audience on an emotional level and provide a break from day-to-day life.
Stay tuned because later this year the group plans to release a double EP. The release will consist of a live blues album that is going to be recorded at Forbidden Flavours on Feb. 7, as well as an album that will be original music about the hardships of Indigenous peoples. Both of these albums are set to be released on June 21.
Make sure to check him out on Feb. 7 at Forbidden Flavours located in Brandon University!
