Ingram’s last-second game-winner helps Raptors stay hot and extend win streak to nine

John Chidley-Hill, The Canadian Press 4 minute read Yesterday at 10:41 PM CST

TORONTO - Brandon Ingram knew he had Pascal Siakam right where he wanted him.

Ingram and Siakam had been battling one-on-one as time was winding down in the fourth quarter of Wednesday night's game between the Toronto Raptors and the Indiana Pacers. With the game tied 95-95 and Siakam defending against him, Ingram drilled a 14-foot pull-up jump shot, putting the Raptors up by two with 0.6 seconds left on the clock.

"I knew he was in foul trouble, and I knew he didn't want to be overly aggressive, so he was at my mercy at that point," said Ingram. "I just wanted to be super aggressive, super aggressive.

"I saw he kept backing up and I just kept being aggressive and getting to my spots."

Pacers star Andrew Nembhard donates equipment to Malvern Family Resource Centre

John Chidley-Hill, The Canadian Press 3 minute read Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025

TORONTO - Andrew Nembhard doesn't like to think about what his legacy might be, instead focusing on helping as many people as he can.

The Indiana Pacers point guard donated a basketball shooting machine to the Malvern Family Resource Centre in the Toronto area Scarborough on Tuesday. The valuable piece of equipment corrals made shots and automatically passes the basketball back to a waiting player.

"It's tough for me, honestly, when I think about legacy. It's a very self-serving thing, so I try not to be too into legacy or anything like that," he said in a recent phone interview. "But if I could just be a small piece of anybody's journey, or just help out any way I can, I will.

"I know it's hard to make real big changes, but just do anything to just kind of myself out there, try a little bit."

Ingram enjoying life with the Raptors — and Rajakovic’s relentless energy

John Chidley-Hill, The Canadian Press 4 minute read Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025

TORONTO - When Brandon Ingram was traded from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Raptors last season, he made it clear he wanted to stay in Toronto.

But there's been a specific part of being a Raptor that he loves.

“I guess Darko coming into the locker room, yelling," laughed Ingram, referring to head coach Darko Rajakovic's habit of running into Toronto's locker room, screaming, to hype up his players. "That’s not just one day, it’s every day. He brings the energy every single day. He’s the leader of our team.

"He makes sure we bring it to practice, to games, to shootarounds. He makes sure we have it every time we step on the basketball floor."

Donovan Mitchell scored 17 points and had eight assists for Cleveland (12-7). Jaylon Tyson added 15 points and nine rebounds as Evan Mobley scored 14.

RJ Barrett of Mississauga, Ont., was held out of the Raptors' lineup after he sprained his right knee in Toronto's 119-109 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.

TORONTO - It could be a while before RJ Barrett is a regular in the Toronto Raptors' starting lineup.

Barrett was listed as day-to-day by the Raptors hours before Toronto beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 110-99 on Monday. Barrett missed that game, and likely more, after he sprained his right knee.

"We did obviously some imaging last night, some further examinations this morning," said head coach Darko Rajakovic in his pre-game news conference. "Looks very promising, very good.

"At this point, he is going to be day to day."

TORONTO - When Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic calls on Ja'Kobe Walter to sub in, the 21-year-old forward knows what to do.

Walter has been Rajakovic's go-to player off the bench during Toronto's seven-game win streak, including getting 19 minutes in the Raptors' 119-109 triumph over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday. Walter had 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including 4 for 5 from beyond the arc over 19 minutes of play.

"Just knowing what I'm supposed to do: bring energy to the game," said Walter. "No matter how the game's going, I know I'm supposed to go in and try to increase the lead however I can, whether that's defensively, offensively, knocking down shots.

"I'm just always excited to get in the game and just do what I do."

A younger Travis Hamberger might have been rattled by watching his first four shots rattle out.

But the fifth-year guard calmly shook them off and kept shooting while cranking up the intensity on the defensive end.

Hamberger caught fire, dropping a game-high 19 points and leading the Brandon University Bobcats (5-5) to a 77-62 victory over the Regina Cougars (3-5) in their Canada West men’s basketball game at the Healthy Living Centre on Saturday.

The same went for fellow fifth-year Sultan Bhatti, who missed a few forced shots before taking a step back and waiting for open looks to knock down 18 points to go with seven assists.

Ella Averill showed how big she can be for the Brandon University Bobcats on Saturday.

But on a night when no other Bobcats had their best stuff, it didn’t matter.

The Regina Cougars (8-0) delivered the knockout blow in the first quarter and played a pedestrian last three to win 69-45 in Canada West women’s basketball action at the Healthy Living Centre on Saturday.

Averill had a team-high 18 points on 5-for-8 shooting, adding seven of 10 free throws, but BU (3-7) shot an abysmal 26.4 per cent from the field and never gave itself a chance.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul hinted at his potential retirement prior to the team's 131-116 win against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, in what is expected to be his final game in his home state of North Carolina.

The Winston-Salem native released a video on social media about 90 minutes before tipoff showing highlights of him playing for several NBA teams throughout his 21-year professional career. The video also includes Paul from childhood through high school and his days playing at Wake Forest and getting drafted into the league.

In the post on X, Paul wrote “Back in NC!!! What a ride…Still so much left…GRATEFUL for this last one!!”

After the game, Paul declined interview requests to speak about his future through the team's public relations staff and quietly left the Spectrum Center walking alongside a staff member wearing a brown plaid flannel coat.

TORONTO - Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic doesn't like to get ahead of himself, instead having his players just focus on the game in front of them.

They made one small exception on Friday night.

As they prepared to play the Washington Wizards, the Raptors spoke about how a win — coupled with an Indiana Pacers' loss — would help them advance to the knockout stage of the Emirates NBA Cup for the first time in the in-season tournament's three-year history.

"Everybody said to not play around with this game, just come out there with the mentality to just go and get a great win to make sure we qualify," said reserve centre Sandro Mamukelashvili. "I think we came out, we did that now we've just got to lock in for the next game, but we're really happy.

On Friday night at the Healthy Living Centre, the entire team didn’t hit that until the game was all but over.

The Brandon University Bobcats delivered their best defensive effort of the season to beat the Cougars 94-74, improving to 4-5 on the Canada West men’s basketball season.

“We executed the game plan pretty well. We defended, multiple efforts, and rebounded the ball OK,” said Bobcats head coach Gil Cheung.

Amaya McLeod made her presence known and felt all game in her long-awaited return.

The import guard forced the Regina Cougars to adjust to the “Make someone else beat us” strategy. Unfortunately for the Brandon University Bobcats (3-6), it worked as the Cougars rode a strong second half to an 85-67 triumph at the Healthy Living Centre on Friday.

BU’s Canada West women’s basketball losing streak stretched to five games while Regina (7-0) stayed perfect.

“I don’t think we backed down from the challenge,” McLeod said. “They are a very good team and we can hang with them. We can hang with teams like that. I just think we need to execute a little bit better, stay together, that’s all.”
