Marino, from Vancouver, entered the match after a 6-2, 6-3 win over Italy’s Martina Trevisan on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old Marino is set to compete in first-round women’s doubles action on Thursday after play was suspended late Wednesday. Alongside Mexico’s Fernanda Contreras, she will take on Mexico’s Giuliana Olmos and Indonesia’s Aldila Sutjiadi.
