Mikael Kingsbury didn’t compete in dual moguls Saturday after winning men’s moguls the previous day for his 100th career World Cup victory.
The World Cup in Val Saint-Come, Que., was the 33-year-old’s first competition this season after skipping the season-opener with a groin injury.
After Friday’s win, Kingsbury wasn’t sure if he’d race on back-to-back days.
Kingsbury’s spokesperson said in a Saturday statement the Canadian would not compete in dual moguls.
The statement said the decision is in line with Kingsbury’s plan for returning to competition and making sure he will be healthy at the Olympic Games.
The Milan Cortina Winter Olympics open Feb. 6. Dual moguls will make its Olympic debut there.
Kingsbury from Deux-Montagnes, Que., won Olympic moguls gold in 2018 and silver in both 2014 and 2022.
He has won nine gold medals at the world championship in moguls and dual moguls.
Nine other Canadians competed in men’s dual moguls and nine Canadian women entered dual moguls Saturday.
