ISTANBUL – Shay Colley led the way with 13 points, while Aaliyah Edwards had 11 points and 15 rebounds as Canada’s women’s basketball team cruised past Argentina 75-41 in FIBA women’s World Cup qualifying action on Saturday.

Canada seized control early, opening the game with a decisive 19-1 run in the first quarter. The Canadians held a 45-22 lead by halftime.

Canada outshot Argentina 43.3 per cent to 24.6 per cent from the field and finished with 58 rebounds compared to Argentina’s 25.

Canada also collected 19 offensive rebounds.

The Canadians improved to 2-1 with the victory.

Canada will play Japan on Sunday, with a win automatically qualifying the team for the World Cup which runs from Sept. 4-13 in Berlin, Germany.
